View from above

Freetown nestles between the Atlantic Ocean and rolling forested hills that extend all the way down the peninsula. From the western area of the city, where we live, you can travel straight up and have panoramic views in minutes.

We travelled this road too many times in the following days when children were sick and going up to hospital - why do children get sick on a Friday eve! All better now, though being told to start malaria treatment is not what I wanted to hear barely two weeks after arrival. Adjust Aisling, in every way you didn't, but should have, anticipated.

As we travelled up, memories of the road accident with VSO volunteers 8 years were running through my head. I do have a lot of memories, mostly good and some not so good, resurfacing since my return to Salone.

The other side:

Constant building (and associated deforestation of the hills)

And finally, coming back down.
